Placebo @ Malaysia, march 16, 2010

kinda got dragged by a friend to attend the concert as I'm not a hard-core fan of Placebo / rock concerts.

However, once i got into the arena, and Placebo came on stage, the adrenaline, the drums, the head banging beats...man, did i enjoy myself.

They were good, and yeah, no regrets! Now i want more of them :-D

Two complaints though:
1) Event organizer / ticket axcess should have a better system for ticket collection. It was dinner time, and you expect ppl to wait in line for you to open doors??
2) The exits for this venue (KL Live Centre) should have better access. You have to walk down stairs & escalators to get out of that place
Thats not a pretty sight when you have a massive crowd.

food review : New York New York Deli

My first advice to you: DONT EVEN BOTHER.

This place, over promises you with pretty pictures, deco and mouth watering description that makes you drool and want to order every single thing.

But the food was horrid.

- The Tomato Salsa Soup i ordered was so horrible, it didnt taste like soup at all, and it was gluey. according to "chef" they did a "roue"..bleah...cannot make it. #FAIL.

- The root beer float was watered down. A&W could do so much better.

- The salad was quite pathethic. (picture included). Edible, but pathetic.

- For the mains, I ordered the Hawaiian Teriyaki Beef Burger. Bread was dry. Beef patty was alright, but it wasnt great to cover all flaws. Guess the best thing was the fries.
You cant go wrong with that.

So yeah, unless these guys do something about the food, I'm just waiting to see them pack up pretty soon.

Food Review : Pla Dip

Thanks to Stef, I was invited to for a food testing at a newly open restaurant at Sri Kembangan. Its call Pla Dib which means raw in Thai.

Its a Thai based restaurant with fusion dishes, something very new, yet close to heart. They are familiar to us, yet its innovative and they taste really good too!

Must try items:

- Appetizer : Tofu Avocado Salad, something light and for veg lovers!

- Main : Creamy angel hair pasta with ebiko (similiar to Mentaiko pasta), this dish is quite creamy, however the angel hair manage to tone down the heaviness, one of my fav dish here.

- Main : Rainbow Trout, fish was very fresh and fragrant from the baking process, presentation was pretty too.

- Main : Linguini with Thai Anchovies (if you like anchovies "salted fish" and also if you have not tried fresh pepper before, this would be a great dish to try)

- Main : Black Fried Rice, the black colour comes from squid ink, its not toxic, dont worry :) Serves with raw egg, you pour it over, mix it and serve. Something different and a must try for sure

I take my desserts seriously, specially when it comes to a restaurant, a bad dessert just kills the night. The red rubies here did a very good job, unlike many other red rubies I've had, this one does not come with shaved ice, but shaved coconut milk instead! oh what joy ~ creamy but light enough to finish it all by yourself. You will also be surprised with some berries and lemongrass hidden inside. Excellent!

They have a cushion area of chilling, outdoor seating area for smokers and a bar as well. Furnitures are imported from Thailand too! A tad bit far away from PJ though, but do go give it a try if you could :)

Dinner @ Boathouse Review

Boathouse situated at TTDI, Kuala Lumpur has been around for some time now , we hang around this place usually after dinner and with our pets too, yes, this is the one few places which are pet-friendly. KUDOS!

Anyways, the last time i had dinner at Boathouse was really quite some time ago and frankly i didnt really enjoy it that much. HOWEVER, we decided to have our Xmas Eve dinner there last night and whoa....I'm impress at the improvement of their food.

We had the Pumpkin Soup & Beef Carpacio with rockets for starters, both excellent! The Pumpkin soup had bacon bits, and as you know,....anything with bacon tastes good! haha

For the mains, we had the....flaming beef steak (very juicy, tender and cooked to perfection), deconstructed lamb cutlets was also very good and we ordered two other poultry dishes and thats the chicken with mustard seeds (the chicken was soft and not dry at all) and I had the Duck Breast which turned out better than expected! It wasnt heavy, had heaps of grilled veges and potatoes and it had a slight tinge of citrus in the sauce. Very nice.

As for the sweets, we had mango and peach pie ice cream and the banana and bread pudding baked to order! Although the waiting time for the pudding was rather long, but the wait was well worth it!
